Metal Study
Learned how to cut, solder, color, etch, and texture copper and brass to create pieces of jewelry including pendants, rings, and bracelets.
Pendants
Created pendants by cutting sheets of copper with a hand saw. As a finishing touch heat was added to each piece to color the copper.

Used a hammer to tap a texture into the sheet of copper. Punched circles out with a circular die and hammer. Drilled holes with a drill press and connected pieces together with jump rings.

An etching solution was used to etch the wave into the center of the gear and sulfur was used to turn the background of the wave black. The gear and the flames were soldered together.
Box
Created box by annealing copper and bending it to the desired shape and soldering together. A bottom was soldered on and the cut and filed to match the walls. The lid was also cut and filed to match the body. A hinge was added to the back using a brass tubing and steel wire.

Ring
Created the band using wire and sizing it to my finger. Used a burnisher to spread the wire apart. Using the size of the stone, created a bevel to hold the stone on the ring. Soldered the bevel to the band and placed the stone. Used the burnisher to soften the bevel edge. Finished ring by putting it into a tumbler to polish.

Bracelet
Goal
Create a bracelet to hold an emergency pill for an epileptic friend. One of her hobbies is Dungeons and Dragons so I decided to make the pill compartment the shape of a 20 sided dice.

Pinterest Inspiration

Used a method called casting to create the pill compartment. To do this I carved the piece out of wax which was used to create a mold to pour in the liquid metal.
